In Ericeira, Portugal, it always smells like the sea, from the restaurants that serve up fresh fish and seafood, all the way through its lively streets. Everything here has to do with the ocean. In fact, there is a popular Portuguese song that has a line that goes something like this... "Ericeira, where the sea is even more blue..." Recently, the connection between the ocean and the town has become even deeper, now that the sport of surfing has filled its pretty beaches. Surfing has become a big deal in this town, and has become a spot for international contests in which the best surfers in the world partake in.

Nevertheless, don't go away thinking that all of its beaches have huge and perfect waves, only for the most pro surfers. You will also find beaches that are nice to sunbathe at and take a nice swim in the clear blue, crystal waters of the Atlantic.
